Postdoctoral position in mobile robot manipulation
The Robotics and 3D vision group ( http://www.etfos.unios.hr/ r3dvgroup ) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, J. J. Strossmayer University of Osijek, Croatia is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow to participate in the research project "Advanced 3D Perception for Mobile Robot Manipulators". The postdoctoral research fellow will work in the area of computer vision with application to robotic manipulation. The project is funded by a Croatian Science Foundation grant and it started at the beginning of 2016.
[Application Deadline:] 13-07-2016

[Contact:]
Assistant professor Robert Cupec, e-mail: robert.cupec@etfos.hr, phone: 00385 91 224 6019
[Description:]
The goal of the project is to contribute to the development of a practically applicable perception system for intelligent mobile robots which would allow them to recognize objects of interest in their environment as well as to navigate in this environment in order to execute various object manipulation tasks. The postdoctoral research fellow will be involved in the development of a human-robot interface which would allow a user to define robot manipulation tasks in a simple and intuitive manner. The core of this interface is a segmentation algorithm which should enable the robot to perceive a scene observed by a 3D camera as a set of individual objects in a particular arrangement. The postdoctoral research fellow is also expected to perform experimental evaluation of the developed system and publish the obtained results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conferences. The postdoctoral research fellow will be given an opportunity to work in a team of senior researchers with background in computer vision, robotics and artificial intelligence on a challenging task and master the state-of-the-art methodologies applied in the field of 3D robot perception.
[Position summary:]
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to two years with a possibility of extension to four years.
