Postdoctoral position in landscape evolution modeling at Tulane University,USA
Funding is available for a postdoc who is interested in landscape evolution and tectonic geomorphology. The postdoc will lead on numerical landscape evolution modeling exploring how the pattern and history of rock uplift in a landscape influences the morphology of a landscape and erosion rate patterns. The research is part of an NSF funded project with collaborators Ben Crosby (Idaho State) and Jane Willenbring (University of Pennsylvania). The project is focused on field sites in two CZOs - The Eel River Critical Zone Observatory and the Luquillo Critical Zone Observatory - although the scope of the research can be broader. Initial funding is for one year, but depending on interests it could be extended.
The postdoc will be expected to design and run numerical models using the Landlab modeling toolkit, analyze the data, and write manuscript(s). Knowledge of Python is ideal, but not necessarily required. Opportunities to visit the field site may also be available. The postdoc is expected to work with the entire project team. The postdoc will be based at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
